Election campaign video

30 April 2009

In the third of a series of videos for the local and European elections, Cllr Andrew Cooper, leader of the Kirklees Green Party, talks about the ground-breaking home insulation projects in Huddersfield, led by Green Party councillors on Kirklees District Council.

In the short film, Andrew Cooper says that "you can actually do things for the environment and also help people's pockets as well.

"One of the things we have been successful at in Kirklees is getting homes insulated. The Green Party has introduced the three insulation schemes for every household in the whole of the area... We've got 200 jobs created and £5m a year going back to the local economy... We are actually putting money back into people's hands."

The Greens estimate that a major national programme of energy-saving measures for all UK homes would create 137,000 jobs.

The local elections will be on the 4th of June, 2009.

Future local elections-related videos will outline Green policies on animal protection, and crime.
