Greens deplore massacre of activists by Israeli forces
Wales Green Party has reacted angrily to news that Israeli armed forces have stormed aid vessels heading for Gaza and killed at least 10 people, all activists trying to overcome Israel's blockade of vital resources to the region.
Jake Griffiths commented: "The action of the Israeli forces is deplorable. It appears activists have been killed simply for trying to break the blockade. Israel continues to starve Gaza of the most vital of resources to live a decent life.
"The Government must immediately condemn these events unequivocally, ban all arms exports to Israel and take action to suspend the EU-Israeli trade agreement, which requires that Israel respects human rights. This is sadly only the latest example of Israel's flagrant disregard for those very rights."
He concluded:
"UK Governments have almost always failed to call Israel on its human rights abuses, and no other nation fails so comprehensively to be held accountable for its actions. The new Government show now draw a line under this history and do the right thing."
